Most rooms are sanded, stained, and sealed inside of a week. A typical living room and hallway runs about four days start to finish, and larger jobs or dark stains take longer because the stain has to dry fully before the finish goes on. John gives you the actual schedule when he looks at the floor, not a guess over the phone.

Less than you are expecting. We run a Lagler Hummel with dual-motor dust extraction, so the dust goes into the machine instead of onto your walls and cabinets. It is not a dustless process and nobody honest will tell you it is, but the difference between this setup and a rented sander from a big box store is the difference between wiping down a few surfaces and repainting the room.

Most people stay. The room being worked on has to be empty and closed off, and you cannot walk on a floor that has just been coated, so plan on that area being out of service for a few days. If we are doing the whole first floor at once it is easier on everybody if you are somewhere else for a couple of nights. John will tell you which one your job is.

Clear the room of furniture, rugs, and anything on the floor, and take anything off the walls that a vibration would knock down. If you have pets, plan on keeping them out of the work area for the duration. Everything else is on us.

Usually they can be saved. A hardwood floor can be sanded down several times over its life, and most floors that look finished are just carrying forty years of finish, scratches, and pet damage on the surface. Cupping, deep water damage, or boards sanded too thin already are the real reasons to replace, and John checks moisture and humidity readings before quoting so you find that out before you spend money.

Yes. We use DuraSeal Quick Dry stain and we put samples down on your actual floor, not on a piece of scrap from the truck. The same stain reads differently on red oak than it does on white oak or maple, so seeing it on your own boards in your own light is the only way to pick with confidence.

Yes. Board replacement and repair is regular work here, whether it came from a dishwasher, a refrigerator line, a leaking door, or a pet. Moisture readings come first, because putting new boards down over a subfloor that is still wet just moves the problem six months down the road.

Yes. Treads, risers, and landings get sanded and finished the same as the floors they connect to. Stairs take longer per square foot than open floor because most of it is hand work.

A two-component commercial-grade waterborne finish. Two-component means the hardener is mixed in right before it goes down, which is what gives it the abrasion resistance to hold up in a kitchen or a hallway with kids and dogs in it. It is the same finish we put down in commercial buildings.

Both. Refinishing and restoration is the specialty, but we also install hardwood, prefinished, and laminate flooring, and we do molding and trim to finish the edges.

Yes. Commercial wood flooring installation, refinishing, and repair, using the same equipment and the same finishes as the residential work.

No. Estimates are free. John comes out, looks at the floor, takes moisture and humidity readings, and gives you a number for the actual job in front of him.
